Whether you're a total beginner or just looking for a place to unwind and express yourself, you’re welcome here. This studio is built on the values of community, creativity, and inclusion, a safe and relaxed space where you can try new things, meet new people, and feel right at home.
My teaching style is relaxed and encouraging, I want people to feel free to play, make mistakes, and celebrate happy accidents. There’s no ‘perfect’ pot here, just the joy of making. I truly believe there’s something for everyone in ceramics. Whether you're a total beginner or just looking for a place to unwind and express yourself, you’re welcome here.
Experience
As soon as I sat at the wheel and tried to throw my first pot, I knew I was hooked. What began as a fun hobby quickly turned into a full-time journey, and now I get to share that joy with others every day. I’ve always been creative, but ceramics opened up a whole new world, one that’s endlessly inspiring and full of possibilities.
Over the years, I’ve helped out in various studios, gone on specialized courses, and had the opportunity to work alongside a production potter, all of which gave me a deeper understanding of the craft and its many approaches.
At Pottery Lodge, we explore both wheel throwing and handbuilding. Currently, I’m exploring sculptural work and working on throwing taller forms that can really make the most of the kiln space. I’m always experimenting with new techniques and love bringing fresh workshops into the studio for students to try something new.

Paul is our resident studio assistant and also the proud dad behind the scenes! Originally roped in to help his daughter build her pottery dream, Paul quickly found himself hooked. What began as a bit of support has grown into a genuine passion for clay, creativity, and community.
Taught everything he knows in the studio, Paul has since developed his own unique way of doing things, as all true artists do. He now plays an active role in raku firings, group events, and keeping the studio running smoothly.
While mugs might be a bit too small and fiddly for his liking, Paul has his sights set on bigger things, literally. His dream? To craft the ultimate large strawberry planter. Watch this space!

Our pottery studio isn’t just home to clay and creativity, it’s also home to a lively little underwater world! Say hello to our colourful neon tetras, a rainbow of shrimp, and a whole army of quirky water snails doing their thing.
They're surprisingly calming to watch and make the perfect peaceful companions while the kiln fires and the mugs dry. Make sure to stop by the tank and see what they’re up to during your next visit, there’s always something going on in there!
